Roger began his journey in the welding department on January 3, 1990. In his early years, he tackled a variety of welding projects, from base cabinets and reservoirs to 40-ton ironworkers and the welding jigs utilized in-house. After dedicating about a decade to welding, he transitioned to a position in material handling, where he has been bustling around ever since.
Roger is recognized as Scotchman’s Meta-AI resource within the plant. If you need to locate a part, understand where an employee works, or have any general inquiries, Roger is the go-to person with all the answers. He assists everyone in finding the necessary parts, monitors inventory levels, and alerts us when something isn’t quite right. His extensive knowledge of our materials is invaluable and deeply appreciated.
He expresses genuine enjoyment in his role, stating that each day brings something new. Roger manages the warehouse, unloads trucks, delivers parts throughout the plant, and aids fellow employees in their searches for specific components. While it can get hectic—especially after returning from vacation—he relishes the work and loves interacting with many people daily.
Brad Heltzel remarks, “Roger has been our material handler at Scotchman for as long as I can remember. He possesses an extensive understanding of our products and plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the plant. Roger knows precisely where parts should be, and if one part is being produced, he understands what needs to be made next, effortlessly taking care of it without needing anyone to prompt him.” Over the years, Roger has logged hundreds of miles on a forklift and has proven to be a reliable and trusted employee for many years.
Thank you, Roger, for your 35 years of dedicated service!
