Wade Schofield celebrated his 40th anniversary with Scotchman Industries on November 26. After graduating from the Denver Institute of Technology in 1981, wade directly joined the Scotchman team. Tasked with his first project, updating the CNC machine programs. Back then, they were stored on performed tapes, so converting them was a major project at hand, which we’re proud to report, Wade completed with ease. After that, he moved to the factory night shift and ran many different machines in the shop. Wade’s career path took a turn, and he left Scotchman Industries in 1982. However, Wade rejoined the company in November 1984, as part of the maintenance department. A good maintenance worker, typically, has the ability to fix just about anything, from machines breaking down, to electrical fixes, to major mechanical failures; Wade definitely does all that and more, from his knowledge of how to repair things, mixed with his ability and comprehension of machines made his next transition at Scotchman seamless.
In 1996, Wade became the IT (Information Technology) guy, or what was previously known as the Computer/Data Processing position, where he still has this role today. Playing a critical role in the technological advances that have been made throughout the past 28 years. When he first started in IT, Scotchman had 5 computers within the entire company. Since then, adding many computers, multiple software programs, networks, servers, as well as machines that have valuable software added them. From fixing machines in the shop, updating and dialing in software, to fixing printers and computer issues. Wade’s problem-solving ability as well as his tenacity to see through “fixing” the problem makes Wade who he is today – a very valuable player (or employee) to the Scotchman team.
Brad Heltzel, General Manager of Scotchman, says “Wade is such an asset for Scotchman to have. Wade has a unique ability to look at something and just understand how it works. I’ve had the pleasure of working with him for quite a few years now and very rarely have I seen an issue with a computer, machine, or program that Wade hasn’t been able to solve. We are lucky to have him!!”
Thank you Wade, we appreciate the 40 years you’ve given to Scotchman Industries! We hope you stay for many more…
